New ND Legislator Says He Can Read

State Sen. Scott Meyer (R-Grand Forks)

Incoming Republican State Senator Scott Meyer of Grand Forks is very clear on his abilities.

In an article about how he’s preparing for public office, Meyer revealed to the Grand Forks Herald that he’s a “reader.”

That’s nice.

On Tuesday, the mortgage loan officer got more votes than the Democratic incumbent, Connie Triplett, a lawyer with more than 20 years of government leadership.

“I’m a reader,” Meyer said. “I’m going to sit down, I’m going to study (and) make sure I educate myself on policy and procedure. I’m not going to be a guy who’s afraid to ask questions.”

Speaking of reading, Meyer’s campaign website lists two of his favorite books as “Not Cool: The Hipster Elite and Their War on You” and “American Sniper.”

He should try reading some non-fiction.
