New Moorhead City Manager Resigned From Previous Job Mysteriously

Christina Volkers

Christina Volkers has been hired as Moorhead City Manager after leaving her previous job in California under mysterious circumstances.

Volkers worked for the San Bernardino County Superior Court as its executive officer from 2013 until this April, when she was placed on administrative leave.

The San Bernardino Sun reported that court spokesman Dennis Smith refused to say why she was placed on leave.

This October, the Sun reported that Volkers had resigned, effective Dec. 31. Again, the court spokesman wouldn’t provide any explanation.

Moorhead political leaders, who hired Volkers last week, don’t seem to have a problem with this. Mayor Del Rae Williams told the Forum that a city consultant “had conversations with Volkers about her being placed on administrative leave and (the consultant) had no concerns.”

We asked the mayor to explain why Volkers was placed on administrative leave at her old job, and will update if we hear back.
