Legislator: “Isn’t Abortion Illegal in the State of North Dakota?”

Rep. Jeffery Magrum (R-Hazelton)

If you thought that everyone in the whole fucking country knew that abortion is legal, you were wrong.

Today, a North Dakota legislator who believed that abortion was illegal had to be corrected on the House floor during a debate on House Bill 1319.

Introduced by Rep. Jeffery Magrum (R-Hazelton), the bill would end the practice of “closed adoption,” which allows a parent to give up their child to adoption confidentially. Some argued the bill would result in more abortions.

“Isn’t abortion illegal in the state of North Dakota?” Magrum asked a fellow legislator.

“I don’t believe it is, if you meet the requirements as set forth by the U.S. Supreme Court,” answered Rep. Lawrence Klemin.

To be clear: abortion is legal in all 50 states due to the Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade.

Here is video of Magrum asking the question. It’s at 1:31:30. Magrum is also known for introducing a bill to let the military investigate judges.

  1. Can anyone identify a Republican rep with an actual functioning brain? Anyone?

  2. There are a few. They are all from the Valley though.

  3. Rick Becker has filed several bills the liberals love. Have a look see: http://www.legis.nd.gov/assembly/65-2017/sponsor-inquiry/representative/rcbecker.html
